Gratitude

September 18, 2007

Abby and I went to the mouth of the Elwha River today. It’s pretty unbelievable to me that we haven’t been there every single day of the 5 years that we’ve lived here in Port Angeles. It is ten minutes from our house. It is beautiful beyond most places. I did yoga while Abby played with sticks and seaweed. This is the rock that I planted my hand on while doing downward facing dog. Abby sidled up next to me and did her own yoga. She likes to make up poses. I think some of them are real poses that are way too hard for me to try. I guess kids are bend-y.

Abby’s a fan of taking pictures. She forgets to look at the camera’s screen finder to see what she’s taking a picture of. She looks out over the camera and says, “Smile!” Taking the picture as she moves on to other things.

I can’t help but be grateful every moment. This world is so beautiful and our lives have been so blessed. Just knowing that a place like this exists and knowing that Tom and Abby and I can go there together, as a family, all walking hand in hand. It’s more than anyone could ever ask for.
