Donuts, Doughnuts?
Just how do you spell that?! I’m going with “doughnut” as it’s made out of dough.

Clockwise from the top: Chocolate with sprinkles for Abby, Peach fritter, maple bacon bar, old fashioned doughnut.
In any event, a new doughnut shop opened here in town. I’ve been hearing about their Maple Bars with Bacon on them! Yes, BACON! And, I think we know how I feel about bacon. It might sound weird at first, but think about it for a second. Okay, a lot of us put syrup on our bacon. . . MAPLE syrup. So, why not put bacon on a maple bar? Lately, there’s been a lot of blog writing about bacon paired with sweets. Bacon Brownies, Bacon Ice Cream, Bacon Chocolate. And, the maple bacon doughnut has been done before. But, I had to try it for myself.
Cockadoodle Doughnuts in Port Angeles did not disappoint. But, their maple bacon doughnut could have been baconier. The maple really overshadowed the bacon. I wanted to really taste the smoky salt flavor and instead I was met with a crunch (albeit a satisfying crunch), but no bacon flavor. The rest of our take was super tasty.

Abby didn’t care one lick about the bacon. She got her “chocolate with sparkles” and was a happy, chocolate mess.

Mmmm, donuts. When you’re in Portland next, you should check this place out, http://www.voodoodoughnut.com, maybe try their Taxass Donut. It’s all what a donut can and should be.
I’m at work. I didn’t pack enough food. And I would KILL for that fritter right now. The pictures of Abby are hilarious!
hi, you are kind messing with my diet
I’m not a superfan of American doughnuts (but give me a muffin or cupcake without icing and I won’t say no!) and that bacon one sounds awful to me. And the combination of bacon and maple syrup… Sounds disgusting to my Swedish ears. And stomach.
Love the pictures of Abby with chocolate all over!
Abby with all the chocolate is adorable…. but beware, that sweet child will turn into a teenager, and actually have the ability to bite off her own head and spit it at you! and then, she will blame YOU!
Honey,
I can’t believe you gave a CHOCOLATE w SPRINKLES doughnut to my grandaughter. YIKES Smilin’. I hope you both don’t make this a habit.??
I love you always, love your blog, love your daughter, love your husband, love your life. YOU are special.
Mom
Forgetaboutit… bacon, donuts, BDP, DAYNA, I’d eat ‘em all up!
That’s an all round amazing piece.
