Extra Extra
October 29, 2008
I have a few extra recipes to share from the farm. Hannah included these in the printed version of the cropsheet and I didn’t want to lose them! I have more coming sometime when I’m not eye deep in pumpkins and making graham crackers and waffles. Oh, and I have a batch of apple butter coming too.
Phew.
Here then, something to do with those green things in last week’s crop share!
Celeriac Apple Salad
Grate into bowl:
1-2 carrots
1-2 cup celeriac
1-2 cup apple
ADD:
3/4 cup kale finely chopped
1 small onion finely chopped
2 teaspoons olive oil
1-2 teaspoons lemon juice.
Sprinkle with salt and liberal amount of roasted peanuts.
Also, here is a basic Fried Green Tomatoes recipe. I’ve made it with out the sugar and it tastes fine. Green tomatoes also taste good fried with onions and curry powder.
Fried Green Tomatoes
green tomatoes
sugar
flour butter
Slice 1/2 inch thick. Sprinkle lightly with sugar. Dredge with flour. Let dry in refrigerator for 20 minutes. Fry in butter. Drain.

Sounds like you do need to get a cookbook with your family photos under that christmas tree! Let me know if you have a chance to do it. I bet it would be amazing.
Thanks for swinging by my blog.
