Perfect Popcorn
I don’t know why I have had such an issue with popping popcorn on the stovetop. I mean, heat some oil, pour in the kernels and let ‘er rip right? For a while, I thought I had defective pop corn. . . that it was too old to pop correctly. I mean, it couldn’t *possibly* be my fault, right? Right?!
It was totally my fault. Through a whole long series of blog/internet/facebook connections, I happened upon this popcorn “recipe.“ It’s really a method and it’s genius and I no longer burn my corn or end up with any old maids at the bottom of the pan. Why do we/I call those unpopped kernels “old maids.” Hmm. That doesn’t seem very feminist-like of me. I’ll have to come up with a new term for those. Perhaps “forlorn corn” or “lone rangers” or “uncooperative kernels.” I don’t know. . . there’s gotta be something better.
So, with all of this successful snack making, Abby’s in popcorn milk heaven. Ha!

:) I really like the term “uncooperative kernels”. Sounds like this recipe really works well. Now if I just ate popcorn–
Abby’s popcorn and milk, well, hmmm, if she loves it I say FINE.
Love MOM
Ha
I always call them “dead soldiers” which I know is also used for the empty beer bottles put back in the cardboard thingy..I am always failing at the popcorn popping. Can’t wait to try your recipe. cct
That is a lot of oil. I can usually get away with 1 tablespoon oil and 1/2 cup popcorn. Otherwise, I used the same method for a long time until I was given one of these. http://www.popcornpopper.com/stovetop-poppers.html I’ll never go back. It makes it so easy. I still use the same oil to popcorn ratio and there are almost no “lone rangers”.
Coconut oil. That’s all I’m going to say. Try it.
Hey! I use her method too :)
I vote for Forlorn Corn all the way. …Eva calls them bird seed.
Just tried it- Perfect popcorn!! Thanks!
