I had such fun looking through recipes from 5 and 6 years ago last week that I couldn’t resist pulling this old standby out. We call it simply, Beans and Greens on Toast It’s a favorite here at our house (though, some bribing must be done to get 7 year old Abby to go for it!). The key, to me, is the chewy bread that serves as the base for this. I like ciabatta buns or one of pane d’amore’s heartier breads (you can get it at the Saturday PA Farmer’s Market, at Country Aire and at Good to Go). Slice it thick. This week we used the chard (and the stalks!) from our share and some black beans. Any mixture will do, but don’t skimp on the garlicking of the bread. Enjoy!
